Earlier this summer we had the awesome opportunity to participate in WPI’s TouchTomorrow.

Volunteers polymers sign Touch Tomorrow

We setup three different demonstrations:

“Elephant tooth paste”-an enzymaticaly catalyzed reaction where yeast breaks down hydrogen peroxide, using the enzyme catalase, to release water.

DSCN1891“Lemon battery”-we used several lemons in a series circuit to light a small LED bulb.

“Slime”-Borax causes the polymers in Elmer’s glue cross link and take on slime-like consistency.

Here’s some more photo’s of all the fun we had!
